Permit Coordinator
Pacific Communities Builder, Inc. is seeking a Permit Coordinator interested in the homebuilding industry. This role supports the Starts and permitting process for new-home construction by gathering documentation, preparing and submitting applications, tracking approvals, and maintaining accurate records. The Permit Coordinator works with consultants and municipalities to ensure timely approvals and smooth project starts.
Essential Duties
Obtain plans, reports, and documents from engineers, architects, and consultants Prepare and submit permit applications to city, county, utility, environmental, and regulatory agencies Track approval status and follow up to maintain schedules Verify plans and documents for accuracy and correct revisions Coordinate permit paperwork with consultants Enter permitting data into company systems and maintain digital and physical records Prepare and distribute start packages for construction Assist in obtaining inspections for closing or final approvals
Agency Coordination
Serve as liaison with municipalities for permit processing Monitor and communicate permit status and resolve outstanding issues Attend meetings or hearings as needed
Scheduling & Administration
Maintain permitting schedules for active communities Schedule meetings, inspections, and permitting appointments Organize files for plans, approvals, licenses, and permits
Qualifications
High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred 1+ year of experience in residential permitting, construction, planning, or related field preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to read blueprints and plot plans preferred Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; permitting portals a plus Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to jobsites and agencies
Work Environment
Regular in-person attendance at offices and job sites Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift up to approx. 50 lbs Ability to review plans, climb stairs/site trailers, and travel between locations Frequent computer and keyboard use
