Kennedy Wilson to host fundraiser featuring Pat Monahan of Train to help the nonprofit start build housing to serve homeless throughout LA County

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With an estimated 50,000 people living on the streets, Los Angeles has an epidemic homeless problem. HomeAid, the building industry's leading charity in the fight against homelessness, responded to this challenge in July by establishing a new LA Chapter.  Now a major fundraiser is being planned on October 13th at the Beverly Hills headquarters of Kennedy Wilson, a leading global real estate firm and parent company of Meyers Research, the Presenting Sponsor for the event. The event will feature a special performance by Pat Monahan, lead singer of the group Train.  Other sponsors already committed to the event are Etco Homes (Platinum Sponsor), Wells Fargo (Beverage Sponsor), Bank of America and Fidelity National Title (Gold Sponsors), and Silver Sponsors Brookfield Residential, Caliber Home Loans, Fuscoe Engineering, and Williams Homes.

HomeAid America, a national non-profit provider of housing for homeless families and individuals for 27 years, had previously built housing for the homeless in Los Angeles and Ventura counties in the early 2000's.  "We are thrilled to be back in business in L.A. helping homeless families and individuals on behalf of the building industry," said Peter Simons, CEO of HomeAid America. "HomeAid has a long history and successful track record of enabling the building industry to give back effectively to local communities by building and rehabilitating housing for organizations helping families and individuals experiencing homelessness."

HomeAid identifies charities and care providers working to help homeless families and individuals that are in need of additional or upgraded facilities in which to house people while they offer needed programmatic resources, such as job and life skills training, financial counseling, and physical and emotional support. HomeAid members, builders and others in the building industry, take on these projects, often completing them at a deep discount through the generosity of their trade partners, suppliers and others who give their time and materials as in-kind donations.

HomeAid LA has been established in partnership with the Building Industry Association of Southern California—Los Angeles/Ventura Chapter, with seed funding from the Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation and HomeAid America. HomeAid LA is run under the direction of a local board of directors, chaired by Sandra Stewart, a partner at the Cox Castle Nicholson law firm and includes executives from powerhouse industry players such as Lennar Homes, CalAtlantic HomesShea Homes, Brookfield Residential, TRI Pointe/Pardee Homes, Etco Homes, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Fidelity Title Group, Kennedy Wilson/Meyers Research, and others. HomeAid LA will use proceeds of the October 13th fundraiser to begin the construction and renovation of housing for homeless organizations in LA County. The chapter already has a number of projects in the pipeline.
